Style Pick: Oversized Denim Jacket

Today I'll be talking about a closet must have, a basic piece to layer with or to easily turn into a statement making piece with some easy diys. Instead of a inspo post today I decided to do a basic layering lesson featuring This oversized acid wash denim jacket and a selection of DIY ideas.

When It comes to winter layering my biggest tip would be to buy your jackets quite oversized. With all the layer's and sweater's you'd be wearing under you jacket you dont want to have potato stick  arms (stuffed coat arms) so if you are going to a store to try on some jacket's bring the thickest sweater you own or if your buying one online try getting it in a size bigger. Remember it's not about the size it's all about the fit. I wear a size 40 jacket when I'm actually a size 36/8.
In extremely cold weather, the key points to layering are leotards and tights. from there you can start layering with pants, skirts..etc.

A denim jacket is also the perfect piece to diy around with so I've put together a collection of DIY denim jacket videos to browse around.

you can use these techniques by replacing some items with beads, fabric , rhinestones..etc to create your own custom denim jacket!
If you happen to diy your own denim jacket make sure to tweet me or instagram me a photo @commeunejap with the hashtag #DIYringsandtings!
